The Sheep Show and Sale takes place at the livestock tents on Fulton Street at the New Holland Sales Stables. Participants should review the information below for Market Sheep and Breeding Sheep and direct any questions to the listed chairman.

Breeding Sheep

Eligibility

  1. Any boy or girl who is a member in good standing of a chartered FFA chapter or 4-H club in Lancaster County in good standing.
  2. All sheep must be entered at the fair grounds by 8 p.m. on Tuesday evening and remain on the fair grounds until after the sale on Friday. All lambs will be weighed on the same set of scales on Tuesday between 6–8 p.m. Exhibitors must be present at weigh-in.

Preregistration

  1. Exhibitors must pre-register using the Showman App website by Monday, September 22, 2025.
    • Be prepared to enter scrapie / ID tag, breed and class, showmanship years.
    • Pay a $5 entry fee at time of registration on the Showman App.
  2. Exhibitors should register for showmanship using the Showman App. 
    • Senior Showman: 5 or more years experience 
    • Junior Showman:  2–4 years experience 
    • Novice Showman: 1st year showman
  3. Exhibitors may register up to 10 breeding sheep.
  4. Exhibitors may not show more than 2 animals in any class.
  5. Breeding sheep may not be shown in market classes and vice versa.
  6. Breeding sheep must be registered and have an appropriate registration tag in their ear. Registration papers must be available at check-in time (except for Commercial animals).
  7. Current health papers must be provided for all entries valid within 30 days of check in.

Health

  1. No sheep showing clinical signs of contagious, infectious or external parasitic disease including foot rot and sore mouth will be admitted to the show.
  2. All sheep must be identified by an official USDA / APHIS ear tag (scrapie tag).
  3. Any animal of unthrifty nature, unsuitable finish and condition, or which cannot be satisfactorily handled under show conditions must be removed from the fairgrounds.
  4. All livestock must have current health papers valid within 30 days of check-in from a veterinarian at time of weigh in.

General Rules

  1. Exhibitors will provide their own feed, trough, and water bucket and see that their animals are fed and cared for during the fair. Bedding will be provided.
  2. Appropriate show attire is required. Collared shirts, jeans & boots are recommended.
  3. Classes will be shown by breed. If less than 3 exhibitors are in a class an AOB (all other breeds) class will be created.
  4. All livestock is expected to remain on the property from weigh in until after the conclusion of the livestock sale.
  5. Exhibitors are expected to help with cleanup on Friday evening after the sale.

  4. Non Sale market lambs must be identified at registration and weigh in. Non sale market lambs are eligible for ribbons & premiums but will not be sold at the sale. Non sale market lambs are not eligible for the championship drive.
  5. All livestock is expected to remain on the property from weigh in until after the conclusion of the livestock sale.
  6. Exhibitors are expected to help with cleanup on Friday evening after the sale.
