Livestock Events

SHEEP SHOW SALE

The Sheep Show Sale takes place at the livestock tents on Fulton Street. Participants must arrive between 5 and 8:00 pm on Monday, September 30, 2024. The Show is on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at 4 pm and the Sale is on Friday, October 4, 2024 at 6:30 pm. Animals going back to the farm will be released immediately upon conclusion of the sale on Friday, October 4, 2024. Clean up is immediately after the sale.

SWINE SHOW SALE

The Swine Show Sale takes place at the livestock tents on Fulton Street. Participants must arrive between 5 and 8 pm on Monday, September 30, 2024. The Show is on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at 5:30 pm and the Sale is on Friday, October 4, 2024 at 6:30 pm. Animals going back to the farm will be released immediately upon conclusion of the sale on Friday, October 4, 2024.

GOAT SHOW SALE

The Goat Show Sale takes place at the livestock tents on Fulton Street. Participants must arrive between 5 and 8:00 pm on Monday, September 30, 2024. The Show is on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at 1:30 pm and the Sale is on Friday, October 4, 2024 at 6:30 pm. Animals going back to the farm will be released immediately upon conclusion of the sale on Friday, October 4, 2024.

RABBIT SHOW - CANCELED - We are in need of Chair People for this event to continue.

The Rabbit Show takes place at the livestock tents on Fulton Street. Exhibitors must pre-register their entries with the chairperson beginning September 1 until space is full. Judging will begin on Tuesday, September 29, 2017 at 6 pm. The entry fee is $1.00 per head. This is a one-day carrying cage show. All carriers must have leak proof bottoms.

Parades

THE SPECTACLE OF BANDS PARADE

The New Holland Farmer's Fair is proud to present the Spectacle of Bands Parade on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at 7 pm. The parade will form at the New Holland Park and proceed west on Jackson Street, north on Custer, east on Broad, south on Railroad, east on Main, and south on Kinzer to the park.  The judge's stand is located near the end of the route on East Main Street across from the Liberty Fire Company. Reserved seats will be available across from the judge's stand and can be obtained by contacting Jan - New Holland Area Women's Club - (717) 413-3493.

THE BABY PARADE

The Baby Parade is held on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at 1 pm. Parade registration will begin at 11:30 in the driveway of St. Stephen's United Church of Christ. Anyone reporting after 12 noon WILL NOT be eligible for judging. Any child six and under may compete. The parade route is East Main Street to Roberts Avenue; south on Roberts Avenue to Franklin Street; and east on Franklin Street.

THE PET PARADE

The Pet Parade is held on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at 1 pm, immediately following the Baby Parade. Registration is suggested, but walk-ins are welcome. All registrants must be at St. Stephen's United Church of Christ on east Main Street no later than 12 noon on Saturday, October 5, 2024 for judging.

Contests

TUG OF WAR CONTEST

Contest begins Thursday, October 3, 2024 at 8pm. All teams registered will participate in preliminary and elimination contests. Winners will compete for Championship on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at 8pm for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place prizes. Awards are made after the contest Saturday night, rain or shine. All contests will be held regardless of conditions.
Prizes:
1st Place - $2,000 & Trophy
2nd Place - $1000 & Trophy
3rd Place - $750 & Trophy
4th Place - $500 and Trophy

All non-winning participating teams will receive $50 for entering. 100% of all funds raised go toward the participating teams.

NEW HOLLAND GRASSLAND FFA SAFE TRACTOR DRIVING CONTEST

The New Holland Grassland FFA Safe Tractor Driving Contest demonstrates skillful practices and emphasizes the safe operation and handling of a farm tractor. Participants must be a current in-school member of the Grassland FFA Chapter. The contest is held at the New Holland Sales Stables Parking Lot on Friday, October 4, 2024 at 10 am.

36th ANNUAL HORSESHOE PITCHING CONTEST

Teams of two will compete in a Round Robin format. The event will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at the New Holland Community Park. Sign in is from 8 to 8:30 am and drawing for a partner is at 8:35 am. The contest begins at 9 am. Team members will be decided by luck of the draw.  The event is open to both male and female participants.

THE LONG JOHN EATING CONTEST

The Long John Eating Contest will be held on Saturday, Ocotber 5, 2024 on East Franklin Street. Registration applications for the event will be available at 1:45 pm at the contest location. The first contest begins at 2:45 pm. The contest is open to anyone ages 8 and up.

Kids Events

KID'S DAY

Bring the kids out on Friday, October 4, 2024 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm for Kid's Day at the New Holland Fair. The festivities happen on Towne Centre Green at the corner of North Roberts and East Main Street. There will be balloons, magic, face painting, free handouts, and a drawing for a savings bond. 

PEDAL POWER

The Pedal Power tractor pull is open to children ages 3-6 on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at 5:30 pm and ages 7-10 on Friday, October 4, 2024 at 5:30 pm. The event takes place on East Franklin Street.
